• Panoramic Properties Inc. and Habitat for Humanity Niagara Partner Up

The philanthropic partnership between Panoramic Properties Inc. and Habitat for Humanity Niagara recently added bundles of quality décor, appliances and building materials to the ReStore, a home renovation outlet selling used supplies at affordable prices. All donations came from the former St. Catharines General Hospital, a property Panoramic Properties Inc. is currently redeveloping into a multi-unit residential complex. Rather than disposing of the hospital’s innards, they motioned to recycle any quality parts found to benefit those in the community who need homes or home renovations.

Habitat Niagara volunteers worked two weeks at the hospital, pulling out all materials they could recover. The variety of kitchens, cabinets, lockers, desks and other supplies taken will likely sell for $50,000-$75,000 though the ReStore. Such funds go directly towards Habit Niagara’s mission to build affordable, safe housing for those in the community without the money or resources to do so themselves. It’s about minimizing poverty and supporting families. In fact, since 1993 Habitat for Humanity has added 42 homes to Niagara Region.

Learn more about the ReStore by watching the video below. Note that Habitat for Humanity also runs an e-waste program. Last year alone, the organization collected 326,240 pounds of e-waste in the community! Partnered with the Ontario Electronic Stewardship program, this offers residents a free, eco-friendly place to drop off old devices outlined in this PDF.
